What's new on ExchangeRates.com - recent improvements, features, and fixes.
March 2026
March 2, 2026 - Trust and transparency improvements
- Rate provenance badges - Every rate now shows whether it is a direct market quote, a computed rate, a reference rate, or calculated via a cross-rate. Calculated rates include a tooltip explaining the exact path used.
- Privacy policy expanded - Now covers rate alerts, daily digests, Telegram notifications, and data deletion. Plain language, no legalese.
- Privacy promises on all signup forms - Rate alerts, daily digests, and exit-intent modals now clearly state: no spam, unsubscribe anytime, with links to the privacy policy.
- Live source attribution - The "Where this data comes from" section on pair pages now names the actual provider used for that specific pair.
- Methodology review process - Added editorial attribution, last-reviewed date, and a "Our review process" section to the methodology page.
- Triangulation example - The methodology page now includes a worked example showing exactly how a cross-rate is calculated.
- Data source disclosure - Open Exchange Rates is now listed alongside TwelveData and ECB as a named data source on the About and Methodology pages.
- Delete your data - The My Alerts panel now includes a "Delete all my alerts and data" button that permanently removes your email and all subscriptions from our system.
March 2, 2026 - Expanded currency coverage and UX improvements
- 203 currencies in converter dropdown - The currency selector now lists all 151 fiat currencies, 4 precious metals, and 50 cryptocurrencies in the static HTML, organized into labeled groups.
- US Dollar rate table - A static "US Dollar Exchange Rates Today" table on the homepage shows 1 USD rates for 27 major currencies.
- Provider comparison table - See estimated costs from banks, cards, and transfer services for popular corridors, with source citations.
March 1, 2026 - SEO and content foundation
- 5 new content sections - Added "How Exchange Rates Work", "Understanding the Mid-Market Rate", "Popular Exchange Rates Today", "Forex Market Hours", and "FAQ" to the homepage (~1,200 words of static content).
- Structured data - Added WebApplication, FAQPage, HowTo, and BreadcrumbList JSON-LD schemas for rich results eligibility.
- Site navigation - Added a primary nav bar with links to FAQ, Methodology, and About pages.
- Static-first architecture - All headings, internal links, and keyword-rich text now render in static HTML. JavaScript hydrates live data (rates, prices, market status) but never creates the section structure.
- Speculation Rules API - Top pair pages are prerendered on hover for near-instant navigation in Chrome.
- "How we make money" disclosure - A static transparency notice in the page footer explains our affiliate relationship model.

- 756 currency pair pages - Generated pages for all 28 x 27 currency combinations with historical charts, ready reckoner tables, and conversion tools.
- 28 currency hub pages - Each hub shows all pairs for a given currency (e.g., USD Hub) with links to individual pair pages.
- Gradual indexation - New pair pages go live at a controlled rate (8 per day) in BIS trading volume order, starting with the most traded pairs first.
- XML and HTML sitemaps - Auto-generated sitemaps cover all live pages and update on each build.
- IndexNow integration - Bing and Yandex are notified of new and updated pages after each deploy.
February 26, 2026 - Multi-provider rate engine
- TwelveData integration - Primary data source for 149 fiat currencies and 50 cryptocurrencies with live rates updating every 60 seconds.
- OpenExchangeRates integration - Secondary source covering 170 fiat currencies with hourly updates, filling gaps in TwelveData coverage.
- Frankfurter (ECB) fallback - Free European Central Bank reference rates for 30 currencies, available as a final fallback and for local development.
- Cross-rate computation - When no direct rate exists, the system automatically computes rates through USD or EUR as intermediaries.
- PHP proxy with caching - All API calls go through a server-side proxy that caches responses (60s for TwelveData, 5min for OXR) and hides API keys from client code.
